Inner Cities of North America Work During COVID-19
During the first Covid-19 wave, most of us were working from home watching the latest TV shows and spending quality time with our families. However, during the lockdown, there were other people who were not as fortunate. These people were out in the cold with no roof over their heads and were unable to afford the most basic of meals. Many of these people were new to the homeless population, having lost their jobs during this time. During this time of stress and worry, many could no longer afford their homes. The Covid pandemic created a whole new population of homeless people.
ICNA’s response to the massive wave of COVID was a focused extension of our services to underprivileged communities. Our loyal volunteers ensured that the needy people in our inner-city communities had hot meal, hygiene hits, and were given the most up-to-date information on regulations for the public on the recommendations on precautions they should take during the pandemic.
Our volunteers were among the heroes of the inner cities and helped thousands to successfully negotiate their way through the Covid pandemic.
Our goalis to provide community health care and humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable families so that the impact of the Covid crisis and ongoing health events on children and young women could be mitigated.
Our outreach
During the first wave of Covid-19, ICNA assisted nearly 200,000 households with prepared cooked food packets and dry ration supplies and hygiene kits. At all points of this process, the safety of our volunteer staff, our stakeholders, and the public remained and continues to remain of foremost importance to ICNA. Our distribution process was conducted in a contactless manner. If a health concern is revisited by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) or the New Jersey State Department of Health, we will reinstate and follow the mandates as instructed.
